Pregnancy and Skin Rejuvenation

To fight the aging process, there are numerous Skin Rejuvenation cosmetic procedures; some of these involve surgery, others involve lasers, while other treatments are topical creams applied on the skin. Pregnancy should be considered when getting a Skin Rejuvenation procedure. Some procedures may be applied during pregnancy, while others should be applied only before or after pregnancy.

Skin Rejuvenation before and after Pregnancy

All Skin Rejuvenation techniques may be safely applied before or after pregnancy. These treatments will not affect the reproductive system and will not cause any hormonal changes. However, if you are under any medications that contain hormones or fertility medications, you should let your surgeon know, as the effects of certain Skin Rejuvenation techniques may interfere with the effects of the drugs.

However, more invasive Skin Rejuvenation techniques or treatments that involve the use of lasers shouldn’t be used for at least 6 weeks post partum or during the lactation period. Skin Rejuvenation lotions and creams can be applied during this period.

Skin Rejuvenation during Pregnancy

The Skin Rejuvenation procedure chosen may interfere with pregnancy. However, if the procedure only involves topical creams, these can be safely used.

During pregnancy, the Skin Rejuvenation techniques that employ lasers or carbon dioxide should be avoided. Also, invasive, surgical Skin Rejuvenation procedures should be performed only before or after the pregnancy.

If you are considering a Skin Rejuvenation procedure, you should consult a plastic surgeon and decide which procedure is more suitable. You may also choose the optimal time to get this procedure done.
