Knowing what to expect during your Portrait Plasma Skin Rejuvenation procedure can help prepare you for the treatment. While the particulars of the procedure will differ depending on the extent of your treatment, you can expect the following:
Duration of the Procedure
The typical Portrait Plasma Skin Rejuvenation lasts about 30 minutes. However, your procedure may last more or less time depending on the size of the area(s) treated, the extent of the skin damage and the level of energy you've opted to undergo.
Prepping the Skin
The first step in the procedure is prepping the skin by cleaning and disinfecting the area(s) to be treated. Portrait Plasma Skin Rejuvenation is minimally invasive, so it requires only local anesthetic. Your skin will be numbed during the procedure and you should feel no pain, although you may feel some pressure and a minor warm tingling in the skin.
The Procedure
The Portrait Plasma Skin Rejuvenation procedure is performed with a specialized hand tool that emits thermal energy in the form of nitrogen gas. Odorless and colorless, this highly concentrated form of nitrogen is referred to as plasma. The plasma penetrates the skin without breaking its surface, resurfacing outer layers of the skin and stimulating collagen and elastin production in the cells. This makes the skin more even-toned and firmer over time.
The tool never comes in contact with your skin during treatment. Instead, the tool emits concentrated forms of plasma, which enter the skin via pressure. Tissue is heated once the plasma comes into contact with it, but while there is redness, there is no scarring.
