How LipoDissolve Is Performed

LipoDissolve is a procedure that consists of chemicals being injected into fat deposits using needles. The purpose of the injections is the removal of the fat deposits by dissolving them. This procedure is not to be confused with liposuction, which is an invasive surgery that involves inserting a suction device and actually sucking the fat from the body. LipoDissolve is a non-invasive procedure that is performed by simple insertion of ordinary needles.

The best candidates for LipoDissolve will be of a healthy weight, good physical condition and have realistic expectations of the results. Your doctor will discuss the details of the procedure and whether this is the best choice for your needs.

How LipoDissolve Is Performed

The needle, which is the approximate size of an acupuncture needle, is inserted directly into the areas of your body that contain the fat deposits. Depending on whether you choose local anesthetic, you may feel stinging upon insertion of the needle, but most patients report that the stinging is bearable. The stinging will be the extent of any discomfort during the procedure.

The needles contain chemicals that bond to fat molecules and cause them to liquefy. Once the fat has liquefied, the body uses the organs responsible for ridding itself of waste to eliminate the fat, such as the intestines and liver. The results are not instant, but can take a few weeks for the body to purge the fat. While the results can take up to 4 weeks to show improvement, the actual procedure itself only takes about 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

More than One Treatment Required

One treatment of LipoDissolve is certainly enough to show results, but with continued sessions, patients can obtain optimal results. The doctor may recommend several sessions, with the amount depending on what expectations you have. After determining how many sessions are necessary, he or she will schedule the sessions from four to eight weeks apart. The doctor will schedule these sessions based on your individual progress and what he or she feels is best for your needs.

Different Techniques Used

While the technique will always consist of chemicals being injected into the fat deposits, the makeup of the chemicals used may vary. There is no FDA mandate on what the chemicals must contain, so depending on who performs your procedure, the makeup may be different. The main ingredients in the chemical are phosphatidylcholine (PC) and Deoxycholate (DC), which is a compound derivative of soy and the main ingredient is soya oil and a bile salt produced by the liver, respectively. Together these main ingredients, often abbreviated as PCDC, may be combined with vitamins, herbs and enzymes.

Not being FDA regulated, LipoDissolve does not have a standard procedure and the dosage can vary as well. Typically, the injections administered with each microinjection will be 0.4 mL, with the total for each session being no more than 100 ml. These amounts will vary based on the doctor and your particular needs.
