Mesotherapy Recovery and Results

One of the enticing benefits of using mesotherapy to address small deposits of fat, improve the appearance of sagging skin and treat cellulite, is that there is virtually no downtime or recovery period required. Patients are able to walk out of their provider’s office, drive home on their own and immediately return to work or regular, daily activities. If mesotherapy treatments are administered in the face, it is advised that patients do not wear make-up for at least a few hours after the session, and all patients are advised to avoid hot showers for about eight hours after treatment.

Patients may experience slight burning or pinching sensations during the injections, which generally subsides within 20 minutes, and the most common side effect is bruising, which typically takes one week or less to dissipate. Some patients report soreness around the injection sites for up to a few days after receiving mesotherapy, but this minor soreness is rarely significant enough to hinder mobility or activity. As with any injection or procedure, there is a small risk of infection. If infection occurs, it should be reported immediately. There is also a chance of minor skin discoloration, which will subside without treatment in almost all cases, but can also be treated with one or more chemical peels if the patient wishes to resolve discoloration quickly. Some patients report minor swelling, which subsides between one and five days after the treatment session.

Each patient will experience their results differently, depending on their body type, the purpose of the mesotherapy treatment and the number of sessions required. Some patients see results after their first treatment session, while others may not see results until after the third treatment session. Once achieved, the results are long-lasting, particularly when the patient adheres to a healthy lifestyle, which includes proper exercise and nutrition. Due to the effects of aging, dietary changes and environmental factors, maintenance injections will likely be required to continue to enjoy a more even skin tone and texture and enhanced body contours.
