Chemical Peel for Dry Skin

A chemical peel is a common cosmetic surgery practice which uses a chemical to remove the outer layers of skin from the face. In doing so, new skin layers of skin can be exposed; layers which aren't discolored, tight, sagging or wrinkled. The face can look refreshed and more youthful. However, not all skin types are the best candidates for a chemical peel.

What Dry Skin Patients Can Expect

A chemical peel removes the outer layers of skin, which can improve the skin tone. In dry skin patients, however, the chemicals being used might cause even more dryness and a reaction once the treatment is over. Some patients with dry skin can have trouble with flaking and skin irritation. These conditions can last for several days, drawing unwanted attention to the skin and to the face. Those with dry skin may feel their facial skin feels tighter and that they are unable to moisturize the skin completely until the skin heals again.

While dry skin patients can opt to have a chemical peel, they need to realize that this can come with unwanted and uncomfortable side effects. There are many less extensive facial treatments which can help refine the skin without causing pain in the process.
