Candidacy for Radiesse

Patients who are interested in a long lasting dermal filler will often consider Radiesse as one of the foremost options. While Radiesse is an ideal solution for many patients seeking enhancement in certain areas of the face, it cannot be used in other areas. Candidacy for Radiesse will depend on these factors.

Patients Concerned with Nasolabial Folds

Radiesse is approved by the FDA to be used on facial wrinkles and folds ranging from moderate to severe. This typically means that it will be used to fill in the facial lines that run from the corner of the nose to the edge of the mouth, known as nasolabial folds. Radiesse patients must be seeking a correction in this area to be candidates for Radiesse.

While there are occasionally other areas, such as the lips and under the eyes, that Radiesse is injected, this is strictly "off label," and Radiesse is not cleared by the FDA to be injected in these areas. Patients seeking this type of correction are not good candidates for Radiesse, and should consider other dermal fillers first.

Patients Seeking a Long Lasting Effect

Radiesse will often last as long as 12 to 18 months, longer than most other hyaluronic acid based fillers. Patients who want to get a long lasting, but not permanent, correction in the nasolabial fold area are good Radiesse candidates.
