How Hylaform is Performed

Hylaform is a dermal filler which is used to remove facial wrinkles, laugh lines, crow's feet, frown lines and fine lines. The procedure is non-invasive in nature and can be done within an hour.

Hylaform is a substance made from a highly purified version of hyaluronic acid, which acts like the natural hyaluronic acid. It is prepared from the combs of specially bred roosters. It has been used to correct facial wrinkles and thin lips, resulting in a younger look to the face. Although it is derived from animals and has a high risk of allergy, it is fully sterilized and stabilized before it is put to use. Any certified medical professional can administer hylaform, but it is recommended that patients take the injection from a surgeon.

How Does Hylaform Work?

Hyaluronic acid is a substance which can be found in almost all of the body tissues like the skin, cartilage and bone. It resembles a gel in shape, texture and size and it serves the purpose of filling the empty space between collagen and elastic fibers. This acid attracts water towards itself for binding. After that it goes through expansion in order to spread around the area, so it keeps on hydrating and giving the tissues the required fullness and volume. These hylaforms mimic the functions of hyaluronic acid, as they contain this acid in high quantity. Once this artificial dermal filler is added to the skin, it begins to give fullness and volume to the wrinkles and lines.

Pre-Treatment

Since hylaform is an injection based filler, it can be used on any skin type. Before the treatment, patients should consult a physician to know if they are the right candidate for this treatment. Patients will be required to remove makeup prior to the treatment, so that the doctor can see the wrinkles. Avoid consumption of any medication a week before the treatment that may promote bleeding or bruising, such as aspirin.

The Hylaform Treatment

Usually no anesthesia is administered during the treatment, as the nature of this technique is noninvasive. However, the physician may suggest the use of a topical or local anesthetic. Hylaform will be injected under the top layer of the skin using a sterilized injection. It is injected in all the areas requiring correction, including the places where the patient wants the folds or wrinkles to be removed. It then gradually provides volume to that area and the wrinkles are removed due to the regained fullness.

Post-Treatment

After the injection, the effects are immediately felt. Patients can resume their normal routines right after the procedure, and there is no recovery period involved. Its effects usually last from 3 to 6 months. Patients may need a followup treatment at an interval of 6 to 12 months, to ensure the best results. There can be some possible side effects like bruising and swelling at the treated area, lasting for a week.

The procedure usually costs from $500 to $1,500 depending upon the geographic location.
