Pregnancy and ArteFill

ArteFill is a long-lasting dermal filler that may be used in men and women to iron out wrinkled skin. Just one or two ArteFill treatments may be enough to give you a younger appearance and much fresher skin, as the filler contains collagen, which can tighten the skin and rejuvenate it. The procedure hasn’t had too many contraindications, so it may be applied in a wide range of patients. However, in pregnant women, the procedure hasn’t been tested yet.

ArteFill before Pregnancy

ArteFill may be safely applied before pregnancy. The effects of ArteFill will not affect the reproductive system, and there will be no repercussions on a future pregnancy.

However, let your plastic surgeon know if you are planning a pregnancy and establish the best time to get this treatment, so that the effects are as long lasting as possible.

ArteFill and Pregnancy

ArteFill is a treatment that hasn’t been yet tested in women that are pregnant or breastfeeding. For this reason, to be safe, it is better to avoid the procedure while pregnant. The fillers may not be as effective in pregnant women as in other patients.

Get a pregnancy test before a scheduled ArteFill procedure to avoid any possible complications.

ArteFill after Pregnancy

ArteFill after pregnancy can be applied, but typically, plastic surgeons recommend a waiting period of at least 6 weeks after the delivery. If you are breastfeeding, the ArteFill procedure should be scheduled until after this period is over. No tests have been performed in breastfeeding women and ArteFill, so caution is needed.
