Active FX for Adolescents

While Active FX is generally recommended to patients who have wrinkles and fine lines, adolescents can also see skin-smoothing results. This cosmetic procedure can help a teen smooth out scarring from acne and simply refresh the appearance of their face for those with texture concerns.

Risks

Some dermatologists will recommend that patients be between the ages of 30 and 65 to see the best results from Active FX.  In addition, there is concern that teen skin may be able to repair itself without help. However, if an adolescent has scarring which has healed from severe acne, they may be a candidate for Active FX.

Potential Benefits

Less invasive and costly than deeper laser therapies, Active FX can help to smooth out the skin's texture and reveal new skin cells. This procedure can also stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, which will plump up lines left by acne scars.

With just one session of Active FX, adolescents will be able to see a difference in their skin's appearance. While some pinkness can occur as well as flaky patches of skin, these effects are minimal and they disappear quickly. Adolescents and their parents should check with a qualified dermatologist to see if Active FX might be a good fit for their skin concerns.
