Areas of the Body Intense Pulsed Light Therapy Treats

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, also known as Intense Pulse Light Therapy or IPL, can be used to treat a number of conditions including skin discoloration, scars and broken blood vessels. However, it is most commonly used as a hair removal treatment. It shocks the skin into releasing some of the pigmentation and reorganizes the collagen, thereby treating the discoloration of the skin. IPL removes hair by shocking the roots until it falls out and the reproduction system is damaged. This results in the removal of the hair from the area that is being treated.

Areas of the Body that Can be Treated

Hair may be removed from all parts of the body. These areas include the face, legs, arms, underarms and the back. This is considered to be one of the best and least irritating treatments for the chest, nipples and bikini line, which may be some of the most sensitive spots where hair is found on the body.

Any part of the body can also be treated by Photorejuvenation (one of the basic types of IPL). Areas that most commonly receive this type of skin procedure are the face, neck, chest, arms and sometimes the hands. However, any area with sun or other pigmentation damage can be treated as well.
