History of Laser Light Therapy

Laser light therapy has a number of potential medical applications. These include the treatment of minor pain associated with certain skin conditions, the elimination of blemishes, scars and other types of skin abrasions, and the stimulation of healthy skin cell growth in damaged areas. Laser light therapy is relatively common and is performed by a number of different types of specialists.

Development

Laser light therapy was first developed in the early 1950s, just a few years after the laser itself was developed. A medical researcher named Endre Mester was the first to discover and make use of potential medical benefits of lasers. From there, laser technology continued to progress.

Laser Light Therapy Today

Laser light therapy was approved by the FDA for use in humans shortly after it was first formulated. However, it has taken decades for laser technology to become efficient and inexpensive enough for it to be widespread and commonly used. Thus, laser light therapy only really began to develop as a major medical treatment procedure in the 1990s. Today it can be found in virtually all major metropolitan areas or anywhere else that dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons perform operations.

Ask your local doctor or a dermatologist for more information about laser light therapy.
