History of SmartXide Dot Therapy

SmartXide Dot Therapy is a cosmetic procedure which uses a carbon dioxide based laser to resurface the face. It is an improvement over previous carbon dioxide lasers, in terms of applications, technique and recovery time. The first SmartXide Dot laser treatments in the United States were performed by Dr. Bill Johnson at Innovations MedSpa in Grapevine, Texas.

The First Carbon Dioxide Laser

The first facial resurfacing procedure completed with a carbon dioxide laser occurred in 1991. It would remove the entire surface of the skin in the process, which prolonged the recovery time. The laser could only treat the face.

New Applications

The SmartXide Dot Therapy isn't restricted to the face. It can also treat the eyelids, elbows, neckline and hands. In addition to treating wrinkles, SmartXide can improve the appearance of scars, pigmentation and stretch marks.

New Technique

The SmartXide Dot laser targets the water just below the skin surface in dot sized areas. Thermal damage to the skin within these dots cause the collagen to shrink and the skin to tighten. The skin between the dots aid in the healing process of the areas that were targeted.

Improved Recovery Time

Since SmartXide Dot Laser doesn't remove the entire skin surface, the recovery time is less. Typically, patients undergoing the procedure can recover in a few days.
