How to Prepare for a Fraxel Laser Treatment

The Fraxel treatments are ideal to diminish fine lines, wrinkles, scars or tighten the skin. Depending on the aggressiveness of treatment required, your plastic surgeon will recommend one of the fraxel treatments: refine, restore or repair. Medication

You should discontinue any glycolic acid medication or retinoids 2 to 3 weeks prior to the procedure.

Your doctor may prescribe a few drugs that you should to take before the procedure. Antibiotics may also be prescribed, to prevent any infections. Get your pain medication prescription filled.

Face Cleansing

Before the surgery, it’s best if you don’t have a tan; ensure you wear sunblock.

You will also have to cleanse your face for the procedure. Get a facial cleanser milk and use it as indicated. Start using it 1 week before the date of the procedure. On the day of the procedure, don’t wear any make up.

Moisturizer and Sunscreen

As after the procedure, you will need special care you have to have all things ready for when you get home. You need a special nourishing cream for sensitive skin; your surgeon will recommend an efficient moisturizer. You also need sunscreen to protect your skin, as after the procedure it will be particularly sensitive. The protection factor should be above 20.

Take a few days off work; the healing time may take between 3 and 5 days.
