Medical Conditions and Fraxel Repair

The Fraxel repair method is designed to help improve skin that has been damaged and has aged. This procedure uses a laser technology to penetrate deep into the skin. In one single treatment, you can expect to get immediate results and have a fast recovery time. Fraxel repair can treat redness that is caused by the sun, texture that is irregular, wrinkles and age spots.

This treatment is not for everyone. Before deciding to undergo this procedure, you should consult with your doctor, especially if you have any of the following conditions:

Pregnancy

If you're pregnant, Fraxel repair is not recommended. It may cause harm to your unborn child. Also, if you are nursing, it is recommended that you wait to receive treatment until you are done nursing to avoid any possible effects to your baby.

Excess Facial Skin

Fraxel Repair is a non-invasive facial procedure, which is not designed for treating excessively loose facial skin. You should consider more traditional methods which are aggressive and use long-lasting facial treatments.

Smoking

If you are a smoker, it is recommended that you avoid receiving the Fraxel repair treatment. Nicotine can inhibit the healing process since as it constricts blood vessels. The longer it takes to heal, the more at risk you are for complications and even infection.

Roaccutane

Roaccutane is used to treat extreme cases of acne. It is recommended that you wait at least six months after you stop taking Roaccutane before starting any Fraxel treatments.

Dark Skin

Fraxel has not yet been tested on dark skin tones. If you are planning to get this treatment, you will be prescribed a cream to use to help prepare your skin from discoloration this procedure may cause. It has been noted, however, that the higher the pigmentation your skin has, the less effective the treatment is.
