Potential Side Effects of SmartXide Dot Therapy

SmartXide Dot therapy involves a laser, using carbon dioxide, to reverse the signs of aging and sun damage. This laser rejuvenation procedure also erases wrinkle lines and fine lines on the face. SmartXide Dot therapy can be used to reduce the appearance of scars, such as those caused by acne. It smooths the texture of the skin and also tightens it.

The procedure involves directing the laser into the skin, which then breaks down aging collagen and other forms of scarring or discoloration. The laser then stimulates the production of new collagen under the skin, giving it a more natural appearance. The skin also thickens, with a more uniform texture. Every Dot therapy is customized to the individual's skin by the physician conducting the procedure. The entire procedure takes about 20 minutes for the entire face. There are a few potential side effects associated with the procedure, though no serious or damaging side effects exist.

Redness

After the procedure you will find that your treated skin looks slightly redder, somewhat like a sunburn. This redness will persist for about 3 to 4 days. During this period, avoid any direct exposure to the sun. Immediately after the procedure, a cold compress will be applied on the treated skin.

Peeling

After the redness subsides a little, your skin will start peeling. This is a normal side effect, which happens when the new skin is revealed under the treated skin. This process will last for another 3 to 4 days, and you will have normal but younger skin after this period. You might also experience some swelling alongside the redness, though this will resolve within 24 hours of the procedure.

Slight Stinging Sensation

You might also experience some stinging during the procedure, but this is minimal and only lasts a fraction of a second. It's mild enough to make the procedure suitable for the eyes and other sensitive areas.

You are required to apply a hydrating lotion on your skin regularly during the recovery period, as this will enable the healing process. You can start applying makeup on your skin after about 3 days. Be sure to apply ample sunscreen before heading outside.

Dot therapy laser does not penetrate as deep into the skin, and this leads to faster healing. Avoid direct exposure to the sun, and follow basic skin care measures consistently. SmartXide Dot therapy can be applied on skin of any texture and color, and can be used to treat large pores, brown spots, melasma, stretch marks, trauma scars, surgical scars and uneven pigmentation.

The results of the procedure are visible immediately, and are permanent. Since SmartXide Dot therapy does not stop aging, the patient's skin will eventually develop signs of aging over the years. Repeat treatments can be undergone in such cases to sustain the results. If you are considering combining Dot therapy with other treatments, be sure to wait until the recovery period ends before undergoing other treatments.
