Recovery after Vaser Liposelection

Vaser Liposelection is an uncomplicated fat removal procedure that uses high frequency ultrasounds to dislodge fat cells, making their suction unproblematic. One of the advantages of this procedure is the fact that it requires minimal recovery time compared to traditional liposuction or other fat removal surgeries.

After the Procedure

Being a procedure that employs ultrasounds and a saline liquid, the Vaser Liposelection is a minimally invasive procedure and will not cause bruising or major swelling. This is due to the technique employed. The saline solution and the ultrasounds will help dislodge the fat cells, so when the cannula suctions the fat cells, this is a gentle procedure. The saline liquid contains epinephrine, which is a blood constrictor that will also reduce the swelling and bruising.

Most patients feel no or minimal pain after the procedure. If pain is present, some pain medication will be prescribed for 2 to 3 days post surgery.

Recovery Time

The time needed to fully recover after a Vaser Liposelection varies according to several factors:

  • The size of the area treated and the amount of fat that is removed
  • The number of areas treated
  • Your age
  • Your health and capacity to recover

On average, the recovery time is between 2 to 5 days, and in the most extreme cases, it does not exceed 1 week, which is minimal when compared to the time needed to recover from a traditional liposuction.

Your doctor will schedule a follow up appointment to check the incision sites; in rare cases, these may get infected. Fever, nausea, redness and swelling of the incision sites are signs of infection.
