3 Laser Liposuction Treatments to Try this Spring

Spring is around the corner and if you want to look “hot” in some of the revealing new fashions with a trimmer belly or thighs, you may be considering laser liposuction.  What kinds of laser liposuction treatments are available, and how might they work as an alternative to liposuction surgery?

Laser Lipo vs. Liposuction Surgery

One benefit of laser liposuction over traditional liposuction is that it’s not major surgery. Laser lipo dissolves fatty deposits just under the skin using laser beam technology rather than invasive surgical incisions. Fatty deposits in problem areas are broken down and dissolved by laser beams, and the growth of collagen is stimulated, further toning and firming the area.

Laser lipo doesn’t involve anesthesia or lengthy (and painful) post-surgery recovery. It may not be the best option for those who hope to remove a significant amount of excess fat or tighten sagging skin that cannot be corrected any other way. Laser liposuction is an alternative to invasive surgery for people who want contouring in problem areas that don’t improve with diet and exercise.

Laser Liposuction Treatments

There are many laser liposuction treatments currently available, but four of them have become particularly popular in recent years. The laser liposuction treatments that people seem to want now are SmartLipo™, CoolLipo™ and SlimLipo™.

Each of these treatments has been FDA-approved and is considered safe when performed by a licensed, experienced professional. Here is an overview to help you decide which laser liposuction treatment might be best for you.

SmartLipo – SmartLipo can treat many body areas including the belly, buttocks, thighs, waist, hips, pubic area, arms, neck and facial areas. SmartLipo can also be used to reduce male “breasts.” This treatment typically takes 2-3 hours and requires one to three sessions.

Cool Lipo – “Cool Touch” lipo is usually used to remove fat from smaller areas such as under the chin or back of the arms that traditional liposuction left behind or cannot treat. It typically takes one hour, and one session. Cool Lipo is sometimes used on the abdomen, buttocks and thighs.

SlimLipo – Short for Selective Laser Induced Melting, SLIM is thought to melt away fat deposits more efficiently than other laser treatments. Unlike many other laser treatments, Slim Lipo does involve tiny incisions made to areas receiving laser treatment. Designed for smaller areas such as upper arms, knees, ankles, back and chin, it can also be used on larger areas like the abdomen. SLIM typically takes an hour or less and one session is usually sufficient.
