Jeffrey H. Lane, M.D.

Dr. Lane is our Medical Director and Physician. He performs the liposculpture, Botox Cosmetic, filler, and laser treatments and provides consultations. He is a board-certified surgeon, a Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), a Member of the American Society of Lipo-Suction Surgery (ASLSS), and a Fellow of ACOG. He has been in private practice in Connecticut and Washington, D.C. for 29 years, and has over 20 years experience with medical lasers as well as extensive surgical experience. He received his B.A. from the University of Rochester, his M.D. from Albany Medical College, and completed his residency training at George Washington University, where he also held teaching appointments. He is a member the Connecticut State Advisory Board of ACOG, and is on staff at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. He is also a member of the Connecticut State Medical Society, the New London County Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Lane has had a long-standing interest in cosmetic and laser cosmetic treatments, and has followed the latest developments in this field for many years.  In 2004, he opened CT CosMedic in order to concentrate on providing the latest laser and other cosmetic treatments. He has received extensive additional training and certification in cosmetic laser treatments, Botox, and facial fillers. In 2007, CT CosMedic was chosen as the first SmartLipo site in Connecticut. Dr. Lane underwent intensive advanced liposculpture training in Smartlipo and Vaser treatments. We are designated as a Smartlipo training site.

Kathy A. Hazen

Kathy is our Administrator and Patient Coordinator. She oversees all aspects of CT CosMedic. Her many activities include: assisting on all liposculpture and many laser procedures, appointment and consultation scheduling, patient advocacy, quality improvement, and providing information to clients via email, phone, and in person.  Kathy received her B.S. from S.U.N.Y. at Brockport, and in her professional career has been a medical office manager, retail business owner, and mother. She has extensive experience in the areas of medical management, medical assisting, customer relations, and marketing. She has undergone additional training in laser technology, liposculpture assisting, chemical and beauty peels, and cosmeceuticals. She is certified as a Liposculpture assistant, and in Affirm™ and TriActive™ laser treatments.

Smartlipo Triplex™ at CT CosMedic!
 
Some people call it "Smart Lipo", but it is actually one word. You may have read about this in the magazines or seen it on TV. This is an exciting new treatment designed to sculpt away problem areas of fat, without the pain, scars, or down time associated with traditional liposuction.

Many people are normal weight or modestly overweight, have a healthy lifestyle and exercise and work out. However, no matter how much they work at it, there are areas of fatty deposits on the body that just won’t go away! Smartlipo™ is perfect for these problem areas.

Smartlipo™ is actually laser-assisted lipolysis. A very small fiber (the size of uncooked Angel Hair pasta) is inserted through a small needle under the skin. The fiber transmits laser energy to the fat below the skin.  The fat cells are vaporized and destroyed - they will never come back!  At the same time, the laser cauterizes small blood vessels, minimizing bleeding and bruising. But perhaps the best part about Smartlipo™ is that the same laser energy that melts away the fat also tightens the skin above it, so that there is significantly less loose skin left after the fat is gone. This skin tightening takes up to 6 months to reach full effect, but some skin tightening is noticeable almost immediately.

Smartlipo™ is done in the office under local anesthesia along with oral or intramuscular medications. It is not painful. Down time is limited to a few days of easy activity, and many people go back to work the next day! No more big tubes suctioning fat with bruising and days out of work!
