SmartLipo, A Breakthrough Technique!

Lasers have been used in many medical and dental applications for decades. Laser assisted liposuction focuses on using this same advanced light technology to melt fat away.

SmartLipo at Dr. Howard’s office is usually performed under local anesthesia. The procedure involves the use of very small cannulas (hollow tubes) that contain a laser fiber. The laser fiber is responsible for breaking up the fat cells. At the same time, the laser energy causes the tissue in the treatment area to heat up, thereby improving the appearance of loose skin. The broken down fat cells are then removed by Dr. Howard through the cannula in a vacuum-like technique.

SmartLipo is usually associated with a limited recovery time. Most all of Dr. Howard’s patients return to work within several days of the procedure. Discomfort can be managed with oral medications and often subsides within a day or two.
