Dr. David Turok is a Cosmetic Surgeon who is fellowship trained in cosmetic and reconstructive Oculo Facial plastic surgery. He is board certified in both Ophthalmology as well as Neurology.

Dr. Turok is a graduate of the Honors six-year Accelerated B.S.-M.D. program at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and  the Albany Medical College of Union University, having graduated with both a B.S. in Biology and M.D. degrees. He then completed full residencies in Neurology and Ophthalmology and is board certified in both fields.  It was during his Neurology residency that Dr. Turok first started using Botox™ for reconstructive purposes over 20 years ago.
 
Having completed fellowships in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Oculo Facial plastic surgery at Childs Hospital in Albany New York, and in Clinical and Research Neuro-pathology at the Albany Veterans Administration Medical Center, Dr. Turok has completed extensive post graduate training in cosmetic and laser surgery.

Dr. Turok has always had a strong interest in the use of lasers in medicine and is member of numerous laser medicine and surgery societies. Dr. Turok was the first physician in the state of Alabama to perform Ultrapulse CO2 laser resurfacing in the early nineties.

As an oculofacial plastic surgeon, Dr. Turok has long harvested fat from various locations to use in facial reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. He found that he had a natural affinity for the liposuction portion of these procedures and pursued extensive post graduate education in tumescent liposuction, training with the pioneers of this technique.

Although Dr. Turok has been performing tumescent liposuction since 1995 and has experience with numerous advanced techniques such as internal and external ultrasonic liposuction, and power assisted liposuction it was not until this year that Dr. Turok found a significant advance that improved the results of tumescent liposuction - SmartLipo™. Dr. Turok was one of the first surgeons in the country to perform SmartLipo treatments in January of this year following FDA approval and his OR is a designated SmartLipo training center.

Dr. Turok is expert in small incision minimally invasive facial surgery which reduces down time. He performs no – stitch lower eyelid surgery without a visible scar and minimal incision endoscopic browlift and facelift surgery.

As medical director of Quasar Medical a cosmetic laser rental and sales company Dr. Turok has instructed many cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the use of numerous lasers for treatment of aging changes, veins, wrinkles, tattoo removal and hair removal as well as Botox and Restylane.

He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery/American Society of Liposuction Surgery, International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery among numerous other medical society memberships.
 

Smart Lipo™ Liposuction….Smart Lipo™ was recently approved by the FDA in November 2006 although it has been used in Europe and Brazil for the last 8 years. It is laser-assisted liposuction performed under pure tumescent local anesthesia.  Many patient have the procedure done on a Thursday or Friday and return to work on the following Monday.  The procedure is minimally invasive, done with micro incisions.

Dermasonic™ Cellulite Treatments….While surgery and medication can do little to improve the “cottage cheese” skin texture called cellulite, the Dermasonic™ can help. The Dermasonic™ can temporarily improve the appearance of cellulite with regular treatments.

Endoscopic Forehead/Brow Lift…The brow lift is performed under twilight anesthesia and is performed to elevate the tissue of the forehead and to slightly raise the eyebrows. It will in turn open up the eyes and make the patient look more refreshed.

Small Incision Face and Neck Lift. The face and neck lift is performed under twilight anesthesia. It improves or eliminates the excessive folds on the face and jowls and provides a better facial contour and neckline.

Blepharoplasty –upper or lower eyelid surgery. The eyelid procedures are performed under local or twilight anesthesia for patient comfort and safety. The upper eye lift removes or redistributes excess skin, muscle and fat of the eyelids while smoothing and restoring the natural crease. The lower eyelid procedure improves the contours of the lower eyelid through an internal incision invisible to observers.

Laser resurfacing….Laser resurfacing is done under twilight anesthesia. It will eliminate skin damaged due to age or sun overexposure. New skin regenerates, and provides a less wrinkled, less saggy more even, smooth, youthful and tightened appearance to the face.

Botox™ – This extremely safe medication has been used by Dr. Turok since 1985, when it was still an investigational drug. Botox will improve the appearance of “action” lines – frown lines, crow’s feet and worry lines of the forehead and around the eyes for up to 6 months at a time with no down time.

Fillers – Another “lunchtime” procedure with little downtime, Juvederm™ and Restylane™ and other fillers such as Sculptra™ can fill in folds such as the ones running from the nose to the corner of the lips as well as augmenting your lips to provide a better contour. We will consult with you to help chose the best filler for your needs.
