A native of Havana, Cuba, Dr, Rodriguez grew up in Dallas,Texas.  He graduated from St. Marks School of Texas and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University in New Orleans.  He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the prestigious University of Texas SouthWestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his residency in General Surgery at Keesler AFB Medical Center, the main research hospital for the Air Force.  He fulfilled his military oblligation as a Major at Sheppard AFB Regional Hospital, where he acquired additional expert training in laparoscopic and laser surgery from early pioneers in his field.

As a specialist in laparoscopic laser surgery, Dr. Rodriguez introduced several innovative minimally invasive procedures to the Dallas area in 1990.  One of the first surgeons in the country at the timeto routinely perform laparoscopic surgery, Dr, Rodriguez has been the featured expert in news coverage by CNN International and national and local news stations.  He has been contributing editor of Surgery Alert Newsletter and other medical publications.  Working with Ethicon, A subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson International, he provided laparoscopic surgery training to surgeons in the U.S., Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore.

Dr. Rodriguez is known for the quality of his excellent work as well as the personal care he provided to each patient.  Since 1996, Dr. Rodriguez has been specializing in cosmetic laser procedures and has helped thousands of patients experience the benefits of the latest surgical advances.  He has served as consultant and trainer for some of the country's largest laser companies.

Because of his continuing interest in the modern innovative non-invasive cosmetic procedures, he added Mesotherapy to his list of expert skills in 2002.  Dr. Rodriguez and one of his patients were featured by Barbara Walters on ABC News 20/20 in 2003 for his pioneering work in Mesotherapy.

Always on the forefront of innovative fat removal technology, in 2007, Dr. Rodriguez became the first doctor in Dallas to offer the SmartLipo procedure.  In early 2008, he joined forces with Dr. Mounang Desai to become the primary providor of lipo body contouring.  His cosmetic surgery practice is devoted to offering the most advanced and effective fat removal procedures.

SmartLipo

SmartLipo is a remarkable method for removing unwanted body fat through a low-pain, highly efficient process. Instead of the bulky tubes and uncomfortable office visits required of traditional liposuction, SmartLipo utilizes smaller instruments and specialized technology to zap fat cells for contouring and reshaping areas of the body including the abdomen, love handles, backs, thighs, hips, knees, arms, neck, jowls, and chin. Botox

The Botox procedure is simple and safe due to the very fine needle used and the amount of Botulinum protein required. When the protein is injected into a specific muscle it works by blocking the signal from the nerves to the muscles in that part of the face. The sympathetic nerve endings cannot tell the muscles to move and prevents them from forming lines and wrinkles that are caused by the dynamic action of these muscles under thinning aging skin. The procedure takes only a few minutes with no sedation or local anesthetic required, and normal facial expressions remain unaffected.

Radiesse

Radiesse, which is also known by its original name, Radiance is a dermal filler used primarily for facial shaping and contouring and is designed to slowly dissolve away over an 18-month period. Effective for treating deeper facial scarring such as acne scars and for filling shallow cheeks and chin unevenness, Radiesse has been a safely used facial aesthetic product for over 20 years. The product does not contain animal derived ingredients and is based upon a synthetic form of calcium suspended in an aqueous gel. The product spheres containing calcium and phosphate ions that occur naturally in the human body. Radiesse is well tolerated and does not produce an allergic reaction.

Juvederm

Juvederm, which is made in France, offers a natural looking, longer lasting rejuvenation effect than Restylane. Dr. Rodriguez was one of the first cosmetic surgeons to use this filler and has over six years of experience with the product. Juvederm sales have been bolstered by the fact that the product lasts between 8 to 10 months before requiring a fresh injection, as opposed to four to six months for most filler products. The manufacturers of Juvederm have made it as long lasting as possible by concentrating the product and using a process that generates a dense network of bridge type bonds between different molecules of hyaluronic acid, thus creating larger molecule clusters of the acid gel. The resultant larger molecules are more resistant to breakdown, which accounts for the longer lasting effect of Juvederm. The Juvederm product is manufactured using a bactericidal fermentation process and does not contain any animal product. Therefore, no skin testing is required.

Sculptra

Sculptra, which was previously branded as New Fill in Europe, has been on the market since the year 2000 and is used more commonly as a sculpting product with a longer lasting result. The product is manufactured from lactic acid, which is naturally occurring in the body and, therefore, is less likely to cause an allergic reaction in patients. The injectable filler is designed primarily to restore lost facial volume by gradually stimulating the body’s own natural collagen production. The treatment produces a more gradual, less dramatic dermal filler result, working in the lower layers of the skin to achieve a natural looking result over time. The final effects last longer than those of the fillers that cause immediate plumping, like Juvederm.

Lengthy, invasive, multi-visit procedures are a turn-off for many people wishing to treat mild wrinkles and photodamaged skin. Laser skin resurfacing is one of the growing fields of the aesthetic industry offering patients an alternative to traditional invasive procedures. Newer laser resurfacing machines developed in the past 8 years offer a range of settings to treat a variety of skin conditions in as little as one treatment. Laser resurfacing treatments offer patients an effective and minimal downtime procedure to treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne and chicken pox scars, large pores, and other effects of the ageing process. The laser skin resurfacing procedure helps to restore the skin to a healthy state, similar to a skin that has not experienced sun damage or scarring, as well as treating clogged pores, comedones and some pigmentation problems.

Laser resurfacing is a relatively quick procedure. Due to its rapid scanning ability, Dr. Rodriguez can treat the whole face in about 20 minutes. Most lasers used are carbon dioxide lasers or Erbium:YAG lasers, which both operate on wavelengths attracted to the water molecules contained in the skin. The laser resurfacing is performed using a beam of laser energy that vaporizes the skin’s surface layers. As the new cells begin to form during the healing process, a tighter, smoother younger-looking skin appears due to the stimulation of new collagen formation underneath the skin. The laser itself does not penetrate deeper than the epidermal layer of the skin. One type of resurfacing, called fractional resurfacing, leaves untreated, intact and undamaged skin around the small fraction of the ablated or vaporized skin to act as a barrier and a reservoir of epidermal cells for faster healing.

Mesotherapy

The treatment does not require a local or general anesthetic, but some patients may opt for the application of a topical anesthetic cream prior to the procedure. Both Mesotherapy and Lipodissolve involve using a tiny needle to make many injection points just underneath the surface of the skin in the areas of concern. A very small amount of the medication is then injected into each of the needlepoints with a typical Mesotherapy or Lipodissolve treatment taking around 20 to 30 minutes to perform. Injections are recommended every two to three weeks with an average of six to ten treatments required, depending on the amount of fat and, in the case of Mesotherapy, the degree of cellulite or skin laxity. Results can be seen within a few days of each treatment, once any swelling dissipates. Mesotherapy will not only reduce visible fat, but also lessen the dimply appearance of cellulite.
