Cosmetic Laser Surgery

Cosmetic laser surgery has become a staple in the fight against aging skin. Laser resurfacing is a very controlled burning procedure during which a laser vaporizes superficial layers of facial skin, removing not only wrinkles and lines caused by sun damage and facial expressions, but also acne scars, folds and creases around the nose and mouth, and even some skin tags, growths and precancerous lesions. Basically, the laser procedure creates a fresh surface over which new skin can grow.

Fraxel

Do you want turn back the clock on aging? If the answer is yes, then fraxel fractional resurfacing can help if you have sun damage, enlarged pores, wrinkles, skin discolorations, melasma, and acne scars. Fraxel is unique in that it repairs the signs of aging and sun damaged skin pixel by pixel, spot by spot.

How It Works

The Fraxel laser produces thousands of tiny deep columns of treatment in your skin, known as microthermal treatment zones. This treatment eliminates old epidermal pigmented cells. It also penetrates deep into the dermis. The important thing about this laser is that it leaves the surrounding area of the targeted skin untouched.

Before your cosmetic laser surgery, you and your surgeon will discuss which area or areas of your skin is appropriate for treatment, what kind of results that you can expect, what to look for after treatment, and how often treatment will be scheduled.

Most cosmetic laser surgeries can be performed right in your doctor's office using only a topical anesthetic. The treatment area will be thoroughly cleansed just before the procedure. A water-soluble tint will be applied to the treatment area to highlight the contours of the skin and guide the laser treatment. The colored tint is washed off after treatment.

After your treatment you will experience a mild sunburn sensation for about an hour and then virtually no discomfort. The skin will have a pinkish tone for five to seven days. New epidermal skin usually develops within 24 hours.

The Process of Skin Repair Involves

• Your skin will have a bronze appearance that lasts anywhere from 3 to 14 days, depending on the treatment level.

• Your skin will naturally and vigorously exfoliate as the reorganized epidermal skin replaces dead tissue.

In the weeks and months that follow your cosmetic laser surgery, your body will repair the deeper dermal tissues that have been treated by the Fraxel Laser, producing a healthy appearance to your skin.
