Botox for the Face

Botox
is a purified form of the toxin from the organism C botulinum. It is toxic when injected in large amounts. But when used in cosmetic surgery, only tiny does are used and the product is safe. Botox acts by blocking the effects on the muscles. When the muscles are blocked, they are unable to contract and tighten, thus relieving the lines and wrinkles on the face.

Today, Botox has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of moderate to frown lines, wrinkles and creases. The toxin is also used to treat a variety of other medical disorders include neck spasm, headaches and excess sweating.

Botox is currently used to treat:

- Frown lines between the eyebrows

- Fine lines on the side of the nose

- Crow's-feet at the corners of the eyes

- Forehead creases

- Creases along the neck

Botox can not be used for all types of skin lines. Botox is not useful for

- wrinkles caused by prolonged smoking

- lines and wrinkles from excessive sun exposure

- traumatic lines

- lines of facial expression
