Temecula Neck Lift

Did you know that the neck begins to show signs of aging quicker than your entire face? Yup, it's a true story and get this, you may not need an entire face lift, and you may only need a neck lift. But if you are having a face lift anyway, a neck lift can complete your rejuvenation process. Whether its age or the fact that you've lost a significant amount of weight or simply heredity, a neck lift could be the answer that you've been searching for to tone up your appearance. You should visit with a cosmetic surgeon in the Temecula area to see what can be done for you - most cosmetic surgeons do not charge for an initial consultation.

The procedures involved in a neck-lift may be performed endoscopically. For an endoscopic neck-lift, an instrument visually guides the surgeon through the procedure. The advantages of an endoscopic procedure may include a smaller incision, no general anesthesia, reduced bruising, and faster recovery. You can talk about the endoscopic option with your doctor.

Some Procedures Involved in Neck Lift Surgery:

• Liposuction - if you need to have excess fat removed from your neck then you may need to have a liposuction procedure performed first. An incision will be made below the chin to remove the excess fat deposits. The fat deposits will be removed by inserting a small hollow tube with an opening near its blunt end beneath the skin and into the fatty tissue. The cannula is used to break up the fat, and then remove it from the neck area.

• Cervicoplasty - removes excess skin on the neck. An incision is made under your chin and behind the ears or maybe in just one of these locations. Your surgeon will then cut back and lift the skin, which will be secured with permanent sutures or a special type of permanent adhesive glue. A bandage and tape will be applied to the incision locations to reduce swelling and discomfort. An elastic bandage will be applied to your neck and head.

• Platysmaplasty - is performed to reduce the banded appearance of the neck. During the procedure, incisions will be made under the chin or behind the ears, or both. Your surgeon will insert a tiny instrument to either remove a portion of specific neck muscles or realign them, which will tighten the middle area of the neck. You will have permanent suture in areas of the muscles in order to clasp them in the best position.

Recovery

There will be some discomfort after undergoing neck lift surgery, which can be lessened with prescribed pain medication. Some degree of swelling and possibly bruising can be expected, but this is only temporary. It is recommended that you stay home for at least a week after surgery and take it easy for the first three weeks following surgery. During the recovery period, your doctor may have you wear a compression garment for several days. This garment helps improve blood circulation, minimize swelling, and flush out potentially harmful fluids. The compression garment can allow you to heal from your surgery much quicker and minimize the amount of downtime while providing comfort and support to your neck.

Even though swelling takes a few weeks to subside, you should be able to start seeing the results of their neck lift within a week following surgery. Patients will notice more definition in their neck and under the jaw line.
