Photofacial

Photofacial is a skin rejuvenation process that helps to eliminate the signs of aging. Photofacial or IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Treatment) is when light energy is passed through the skin in a series of gentle pulses and is accompanied by a cool spray to the skin during the procedure.

The signs of aging plays no favorites, it hits everyone eventually, and sooner or later everyone wants to look a little younger or correct a few blemishes here and there. Photofacial is a non-invasive procedure with a rapid recovery time. You are able to return to work immediately following treatment, there is literally no downtime. So when aging attacks you, then you should consider fighting back with Photofacial treatment.

Conditions that can be treated with IPL include:

• Rosacea

• Sun damage

• Age spots

• Freckles - anywhere on the body

• Broken capillaries

• Fine lines and wrinkles

• Brown spots

• Melasma

• Flushing

• Redness

An IPL treatment takes about 30 minutes and sometimes a topical numbing cream may be applied before treatment. The number of sessions required would depend upon your skin tone and the extent of pigmented and vascular lesions as well as the amount of sun damage that you have. For most people they have 3 to 5 sessions.

After treatment your face may be a little red for a few hours but will dissipate rapidly. The pigmented areas of your skin will be darker immediately following the procedure, but they will flake over the week following your procedure. You will be able to resume all of your normal activities and work immediately following your procedure.

For more information about IPL you should contact a cosmetic surgeon in your area. Whether its IPL (photofacial) or another cosmetic procedure, a doctor in your area can help you decide what treatment options are best for you.
