Juvederm Techniques and Formulas

Juvederm is a highly versatile and very well tolerated cosmetic filler material that can be used to treat a wide variety of facial lines, hollows and depressions. Because of its natural appearance once injected, Juvederm use is on the rise in the United States and abroad.

It’s most popular uses include filling in fine to deep lines and wrinkles, as well as augmenting lips for a fuller, more sensuous and more youthful appearance. In addition, Juvederm is often used to return a plumper appearance to hollowed out or sagging cheeks, returning a more youthful facial profile to both men and women. Most techniques rely on several small injections if material along the treatment area, to ensure the material is distributed evenly.

In addition, Juvederm offers three formula concentrations which are used to treat different types of lines and wrinkles, as well as other conditions. The lightest and most liquid of the Juvederm formulations, Juvederm 18 is ideal for treating the most superficial lines and wrinkles, and is injected just beneath the uppermost layers of the skin to fill fine crow’s feet, as well as tiny lines around the edges of the mouth.

Juvederm 24 is a heavier formula, used to fill moderate lines and wrinkles in the forehead and brow areas and cheeks. This formulation is also a good choice for treating moderate nasolabial folds, the lines that form from the edges of the nose to the corners of the mouth (sometimes called marionette lines), and glabellar folds, the lines that occur between the brows during frowning.

Juvederm 30 is the heaviest of all three formulas, and is ideal for filling hollows in the cheeks and under eyes, as well as for filling in scars. This gel-like formula is also ideal for filling and plumping thinning lips and for filling deep facial lines and creases.
