Ethnic background and dermal fillers

I’m of a bi-racial ethnic background, and I’ve heard that some dermal fillers cause negative side effects in people of color. Is this true? What are these side effects, and does Juvederm cause them?

We are located in Los Angeles and treat all ethnicities. We have never known or heard of Juvederm affecting a person of color differently than other skin types.

Dermal fillers are used safely and effectively on people of all skin types. As long as the injector is trained in the care and treatment of the healing process and has experience with clients having skin types such as yours, there is virtually no greater risk with dermal fillers. Because it is non-surgical, scars are not usually a consequence.

Juvederm is perfectly safe for people of all ethnic backgrounds. It does not require allergy tests prior to injection, so it is very well received by patients of all ethnicities. The product is made of bio-identical hyaluronic acid, which assimilates quickly into the dermis and begins attracting massive amounts of water to its molecules, rejuvenating and voluminous the skin. Other products, such as collagen, Radiesse, etc. are not as compatible and could cause allergic reactions in some people.
