How can I avoid an overfilled look with Lip Enhancement?

I want to have fuller lips but I don't want that 'duck bill' look of overfilled lips. What is the best way to keep my results natural?

The most thing is picking the right provider. There's nothing that replaces experience. Secondly, it is important to use the smaller molecule size fillers like Restylane or Juvederm ultra and not Perlane or Juvederm Ultra Plus. Thirdly, not to put too much.

To prevent the duck billed look of fillers you need to tell your doctor your desires for the final outcome. I like to just outline the lips. In this way they are a little enhanced but not too full. This also prevents your lip stick from bleeding.

To get a natural fill for lips, we stick with a couple simple rules.

1. Generally we always inject only .4ml of Restylane to start. Injecting less at the beginning is a bit more work, but it helps avoid a patient looking overfilled. You can always add more, but the product is difficult to remove once place so start with less.

2. We generally inject the border of the lip where it meets the skin first. This helps the lips invert a bit creating a fuller look without blowing up the body of the lip. If after we fill the border of the lip, the patient still wants more, then we move to the body of the lip.

Following these two rules helps us avoid unsatisfied lip injection patients. Good luck!

The best way to have a natural look is to step gradually into lip augmentation.? Juvederm makes two syringes, a 0.8 cc and a new 0.4 cc syringe.? Depending on your desires and anatomy, one can make incremental changes by not?using too much product.? Find a provider you trust and look at before and after photos to discuss what you hope to achieve.
Then your provider can use the correct amount of filler to get the look you desire without it being "too much".

Start with only a 1 syringe fill. See how that looks to you first, then if you want to add another half syringe or full syringe you can repeat the procedure.
