Yes, you can receive Blu-U treatments while on asthma medication. The Blu-U can also be used in combination with a product called Levulan to reduce and remove precancerous lesions call Actinic Keratosis. These treatments are effective for very superficial precancerous lesions. Skin cancers need to be removed and sent in for pathology. Please see a physician for evaluation to see if this would be appropriate for what you have going on.

Blue light should be safe for an asthmatic on steroids, this should be discussed with a physician prior to initiating therapy. Blue light alone is not used to treat skin cancer. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) uses blue light with a skin sensitizer to treat Actinic Keratosis, a precancerous skin lesion.

Asthma is not a contraindication for having blue light treatments. The use of blue light therapy for confirmed skin cancer is not an appropriate treatment. It does not remove malignant cells. Its use is in the treatment of pre-cancerous skin conditions as a preventative measure.
