I had Vitrase injections in the tear troughs to correct a Perlane injection with no change, is there another option?

I had a Perlane injection under the tear troughs with very unfavorable results with lumps and bumps. My doctor was reluctant to inject Vitrase but did so superficially. There were no changes. What else can be done?

I think Perlane (now renamed as Restylane Lyft) is somewhat thicker than would be ideal for the tear troughs. The good news, however, is that it is a hyaluronic acid and can be dissolved with Vitrase. Your doctor simply needs to use more units of Vitrase.

It depends on how long after the injections you are. Sometimes messaging the area can work to spread out the lumps and bumps. Warm compresses can help make the product move more easily if you want to try this. If you are past several days, message is probably not going to be a good option for you. If you are past several days, then the best
option is the Vitrase. Is it possible that he/she is injecting this incorrectly as it should help to break down the product? If this is a possibility, then we would suggest a second opinion.

Perlane should not be used in this area because of the possibility of bumps - Restylane is a better choice in the future.
