If I suffer from rosacea and had severe scaring of acne, do you recommend microdermabrasion or laser?

I am light- skinned and my skin is extremely oily, delicate and sensitive. i have been used many products into my face to eliminate redness and scars with no luck. Please advise.

If your skin is red which I suspect it is I would not recommend Microdermabrasion. It will make the redness worse. Instead Photofacial would be your best choice. Ir will treat the redness and inflammation of Rosacea and stimulate collagen treatment for your scars. If you also have red or pink scars this laser will also treat the colored scars. So this one Laser
can do many things with each treatment. This is also a non-invasive Laser so there is no down time with this treatment.

Let's break your question down into 2 parts Rosacea and acne scarring.
Rosacea is an acne like condition that results in redness, flushing, blushing, and/or pimple like bumps, primarily to the mid-face. Skin is generally sensitive and there are host of triggers including sun, so daily sun protection is important. Most of the medicines for Rosacea, while quite effective, are active only against the red pimples/bumps. To address the enlarged facial blood vessels, flushing or blushing of Rosacea, laser is your best treatment option. The gold standard treatment is the Pulsed Dye Laser. In my 11 years of using lasers and light sources, the V-Beam Pulsed Dye Laser has been the most effective modality, hands down, for improving the redness and vessels of Rosacea. Microdermabrasion is generally not a great choice for patients with Rosacea, because of their sensitive, red skin. In fact, one of the main reasons certain people enjoy microdermabrasion is that it give them a "healthy glow" or blush, not something the Rosacea sufferers want more of!
Severe acne scarring is VERY DIFFICULT to make significant improvement in, and you should seek treatment only from the most experienced Dermatologist. There is a large arsenal of tools to address acne scarring, and each patient needs an individualized plan for their type of scarring.
Microdermabrasion is not an effective treatment for most all types of scarring it simply is not powerful enough.
Laser treatments can be very useful modalities for scarring, but again, many different modalities may be needed to optimize your results. The most commonly used lasers include the Pulsed Dye Laser (for redness or raised scars), CO2 lasers (both fully ablative and fractionated), and fractional non-ablative infra-red lasers. Make sure your treating physician has experience with, and is able to discuss the benefits/risk of each of these with you.

Definitely start with IPL photofacial for the Rosacea. Later you may be able to tolerate skin resurfacing if needed for the acne scarring.

It sounds as if you have "combination skin", with different problems on different areas.? A custom treatment program would be best for you as treatments covering the entire face might be beneficial in one area but harmful on another.? I recommend a physician consultation at a medical and laser facility to determine what would be best for you.
