This would not be typical. Hair goes through 3 stages of growth, and keeping the timing of your treatments is critical. The goal is to REDUCE hair growth. The texture and density is reduced with laser treatments. Make sure you ask questions about the type of laser that is being used to treat the area. If someone is telling you that they can actually remove all your hair in one treatment, I would question that for sure.

Laser hair removal only treats hair that is actively growing during any one treatment. Only about 20 - 30% of hair is growing at any time. Therefore, it usually takes 6 - 8 treatment cycles spaced 4 - 8 weeks apart (depending on the body area) to see clearance. You will, however, begin to see a reduction in hair density even after the first treatment.

To have a successful result, multiple treatments are required. On average, 6-15 treatments are needed every 4-6 wks depending on the area, skin type, and type of laser used.

It is not possible to have a high % of laser hair removal in one treatment. In the best case scenario, you may achieve 20% - 40% permanent reduction of the hair, but this would be the best case. Normally it takes about 6 treatments to achieve 80% - 90% permanent hair
removal.
