Yes there are permanent fillers such as silicone that can be used but if you don't like the result the only way it can be corrected is by cutting it out of the skin and you can be left with a deformity. Also granulomas (lumps under the skin which may be noticeable) can occur under the skin from silicone if it is injected incorrectly in larger amounts.

Yes, there are more permanent fillers. We can use Artefill after passing a 1 month skin test. We use this product on the nasolabial lines (nose to mouth lines) and the marionette lines (from the corners of your mouth). I prefer to use this product in a patient that has had fillers in the past and knows they like the look. It will last years so I prefer an experienced patient. The results have been very nice and hold up very well. If you need filling in your cheek area then I would use Sculptra. This products also lasts several years.

Although we do not use longer lasting fillers like Radiesse, the reason we have chosen to stay away is safety. Restylane and Juvederm can be reveresed immediately with the use of hyaluronidaise, whereas any granulomas or lumps that occur with longer lasting fillers will either have to wait the normal period (9 months to several years) for the product to degrade or may have to be surgically removed.
