Q-switched laser treatments are an excellent option for removing sun spots and sun damage. As opposed to IPL treatments, this type of laser is high powered enough to remove birthmarks and tattoos (which IPL cannot). This means that you will be rid of your spots more quickly with q-switched lasers (less treatments) and the removal of your spots will be permanent, as opposed to temporary blanching of the spots with IPL.

IPL is a good treatment, but one must use caution on Asian skin. Pre-treatment with lightening creams can reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation. Similarly, laser resurfacing can be effective. Creams alone can help but are less effective.
