It may take a week for unwanted pigment to lift in the form of black specs or small flakes but no, there is not a "peel" per se. Doing it 7 to 10 days before the holidays should be fine. Discuss this further with the office you plan to go to as recovery time can vary depending on the type of machine used.

Fotofacial may give you some results with one treatment but it often takes
several treatments to see a difference.
Fotofacial is a non invasive no downtime procedure.

With IPL FotoFacial, there will be some mild peeling. This is gone in about seven to ten days. Often, a micropeel is done 2 weeks after IPL. This gives excellent results.

Photofacial treatments can cause some mild peeling. In most cases, this would appear more like the skin "flaking" off in the area where you've got brown spots or sun damage. This peeling or flaking is very mild and usually occurs within two weeks of the treatment. Normally makeup can cover the flaky skin.

One other issue to consider is that any sun damage you have will likely get darker after the treatment before it comes to the surface to flake off. For this reason, if you have events planned, you may want to try to plan around these or even wait until the beginning of next year for treatment.
