I don't have wrinkles, but do have signs of aging. What can I do about it?

I don't have wrinkles, but I do have some signs of aging (i.e. dark circles under the eyes, slight folds around the nose, lackluster skin and sunkeness around the eyes). I don't want to have any major procedures, so can you recommend some at-home treatments or noninvasive treatments like chemical peels?

The signs of aging differ from one person to another. Much of the process is genetically determined. Consequently, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to dealing with the aging process. You would be best served by consulting with a reputable plastic surgeon in your community to discuss the non-invasive or minimally invasive methods that would best apply to you, and seek advice regarding how to better care for your skin.

I would pair some anti-aging products and treatments together. I recommend using a retin-a, a brightening serum, adequate moisturizer for the winter months and an spf of 30 or higher. The IS clinical line has some great products for correction, preservation and maintence of skins health. In addition, treatments such as medical facials with microdermabrasion plus a brightening chemical peel work well for texture and do not come with any downtime. We have alpha and beta chemical peels, along with the Vi peel, which is the next level stronger. Micropen is also a great treatment and only requires a weekend of downtime, if that. Hope this helps.

Exfoliating is your best bet if your not ready for anything invasive yet. So microdermabrasion or chemical peels are a great place to start.

Dark circles and sunken under eyes for younger patients are often best treated with a dermal filler like Restylane or Restylane Lyft. We use these products quite often to get rid of dark circles and tired under eyes.

It sounds like the sunken eyes require a dermal filler to replenish the volume. This is a simple and safe procedure that can be done at the office and has minimal to no downtime. Unfortunately, at-home treatments will not help with this, nor chemical peels. I would recommend you do a consultation to discuss your options.

Chemical peels are a great way to freshen your skin and look. There are also some good creams that would help with the dark circles. We carry the Jan Marini skin care line, and they have great products for this. Let us know if we can help. Thank you

If you only want to do at-home treatments, then I would suggest a great skin care line like the new one called ZO by Zien Obagi, which has just been launched. If you use diligently, you should see some changes to your tone and texture. As far as chemical peels, I would not recommend doing that at-home. They don't make an "at-home" peel that would be medically strong enough to make a difference. Sunkeness around the eye is something really only filler and/or surgery may correct, unfortunately!

It's best to be evaluated in-person. However, based on your description, you could benefit from Botox for the wrinkles, and hyaluronic acid fillers in your face, specifically in the areas underneath your eyes. Also, skin tightening procedures, such as chemical peels, can certainly help as well. Microdermabrasion can be used to soften fine wrinkles of the face.
