Is laser liposuction appropriate for someone with type 1 diabetes?

I'm an insulin dependent diabetic and have been for 51 yrs. I have no related complications, am in good health and am not overweight. I do use a pump, however. Am I candidate for laser liposuction? If not, why and can you recommend more appropriate procedures?

My husband is a type I diabetic, and for years when I did normal liposuction he refused to have the procedure performed on his "love handles," which he has had since high school. I eventually stopped doing liposuction and we began doing CoolSculpting in our office, essentially killing some of the patients' fat cells by freezing them. My husband had this done about four years ago and still has no return of his "love handles" and is very happy with it. This might be a good alternative for you. As far as your question regarding your diabetes and traditional liposuction, I would check with your diabetic doctor for his advice. Depending on the amount of liposuction you are doing, the procedure can be fairly invasive.

Laser liposuction can be an appropriate surgery for someone with type 1 diabetes who is otherwise in good health. There is a little bit more risk like hypoglycemia, but if proper precaution are taken, it can be
done safely.
