Would laser resurfacing close a hole I have on my face?

I am a 22-year-old woman with a hole in her face. I removed a mole at home seven years ago and a few days later removed the flattened area that was left over from the initial mole removal. There has been a hole there ever since. Would laser resurfacing help? Or, are there any other treatments that you could suggest? I am so worried. Please help.

Fractional CO2 Resurfacing is effective in treating acne scars and surgical scars. I would recommend that you make a consultation with a health care provider because not everyone is a candidate for the Fractional CO2 Resurfacing and it could possibly be that you may need dermal filler to fill the area of volume loss.

It depends on how big the hole is. If the hole is small, laser resurfacing may be all that is needed. However, a hole greater than 5-10mm may require an excision, which could then be closed by sutures. After this, a laser resurfacing treatment can be implemented to smooth out the new scar.

We understand your concern. Laser resurfacing, such as with the Matrix laser, may generate new collagen growth. This treatment has the potential to minimize the appearance of the flattened area. Dermal fillers are also an option. We suggest you consult with a physician about your treatment options.

First, you would need to consult with a physician. The "scar" left behind from the mole removal may then be treated or minimized by improving the tone, texture and depth of the region. We use a Palomar 1540 Fractional Erbium Laser for this purpose; however, there are other lasers FDA approved for the treatment of scars as well.
