A liquid facelift consists of a procedure in which a patient is given an oral medication that causes rejuvenation and regrowth of the skin cells on the face. It is a highly unique and specific procedure and is not meant to be a substitute for any standard facelift procedure. Rather, it is best used for patients who require additional filling out of their facial skin cells as a result of disease or other medical conditions.
FDA Approval
Prior to July of 2009, liquid facelifts were only approved in very specific circumstances based on diseases and other conditions. After that date, however, the FDA approved it for use across the general public.
Receiving a Liquid Facelift
Just because the procedure has been approved, however, does not mean that it will necessarily be easier to find a doctor who is willing to prescribe it for you. In nearly all cases in which the patient is looking to remove signs of aging, the doctor will recommend a number of other (and safer) procedures involving laser treatments, BOTOX® and more.
If you feel that a liquid facelift may be best for you, speak with a doctor in your area.
