Similar Treatments and Alternatives for Liquid Facelift

Liquid Facelift is a non invasive facial treatment that uses injectible gels to tighten skin and reduce wrinkles. The effects of a Liquid Facelift can be visible for up to 2 years. There are a few treatments that are similar to the Liquid Facelift. Some of these have longer lasting effects, while others are less durable.

Traditional Face Lift

The traditional face lift is an alternative treatment for a Liquid Facelift. However, the traditional facelift requires surgery and may result in scarring. The effects of a traditional facelift are more durable than the effects of a Liquid Facelift. A brow lift or an eye lift may also be performed together with a facelift.

BOTOX®

BOTOX® is similar to the Liquid Facelift treatment, in the way it is administered: injections. The injections contain botulinum toxin which can relax the muscles.

The effects of BOTOX® may be visible for up to 6 months. In this respect, the effects of Liquid Facelift are more durable.

Myobloc

Myobloc is very similar to BOTOX®, using also injections of botulinum toxin. In the case of Myobloc, the botulinum toxin is type B, while for BOTOX®, type A botulinum is used.

The effects of Myobloc are similar to BOTOX® and the results last also up to 6 months. However, Myobloc hasn’t been yet approved for cosmetic use, but may be administered by experienced plastic surgeons.

Dermal Fillers

The dermal fillers are administered in the same way as the gels in the Liquid Facelift procedure. There are multiple types of dermal fillers that use collagen, hyaluronic acid (HA) or different other natural or synthetic materials that will also restore volume just like Liquid Facelift.

The duration of the effects of these dermal filler treatments may vary depending on the type of filler used, but it is typically up to 12 months. In this respect, a Liquid Facelift is more durable. The Liquid Facelift also uses solutions that will not cause allergic reactions in patients. Some patients may develop allergic reactions to the synthetic ingredients used in dermal fillers.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing treatments can have similar effects as a Liquid Facelift, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There are several laser resurfacing techniques that may be used to achieve optimal results. These techniques use laser beams that may be ablative or non ablative (CO2) and erbium. Typically, laser resurfacing techniques will require more downtime than a Liquid Facelift and the duration of the results are comparable.

Skin Products

There are also a few skin products that may be used to tighten skin and reduce the appearance of the wrinkles. Typically, these products require a daily use and will not give impressive results. Skin products that may have skin tightening effects should contain coenzyme Q10 or other collagen stimulants.

REX

REX or relaxed expressions is a technique that used radiofrequency to reduce wrinkling. REX relaxes the muscles and this will reduce the dynamic wrinkles. However, this is a relatively new procedure and hasn’t been approved for cosmetic use.
