Skin Rejuvenation and Dark Skin Tones

Nearly all skin rejuvenation products work equally as effective on all skin colors, even those with dark skin tones. Patients have the choice of treating a number of skin conditions and effects with a wide variety of rejuvenation methods, all of which work to make the patients' skin look younger and even.

Dark Skin Tones

Skin rejuvenation products, such as injectable dermal fillers, provide positive effects to those with dark skin tones. This type of product actually works to elevate the skin, and in most cases, build new collagen networks below the skins surface.

Other methods, such as chemical peels, dermal abrasion and fractional resurfacing, also provide effective treatment to those with darker skin tones. These methods work on the outer skin layers by slightly removing damaged regions of the dermal network. The patient naturally heals over an extended period of time, which differs based on the size of the treatment area.

Generally speaking, skin tone has no effect on the effectiveness of almost every skin rejuvenation method. However, some side effects slightly change for patients with darker skin tones.

Side Effect Differences

After some methods like fractional resurfacing, patients with highly dark skin tones will see less redness than those with light to pale tones. Injectable dermal fillers generally cause mild redness as well, another side effect that goes without much notice by those with darker tones.
