Initial and Long Term Results of ReFirme

Having realistic expectations about the ReFirme Skin Tightening treatment will help you understand both the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment before you make the decision to undergo the procedure.

How the Process Works

ReFirme is a non-invasive procedure with little to no pain. Your cosmetic specialist will use a tool called the elos, which emits a mixture of light and bi-polar radio frequency. Safe for all skin tones and types, the elos tool quickly and safely penetrates through the layers of skin to stimulate collagen production. Collagen is the natural compound in the skin that's responsible for keeping the skin taut and smooth. During aging or as a result of tanning, smoking, scarring, illness, weight loss or gain or other factors, the skin produces less collagen, which results in wrinkles, deep lines, hallowed cheeks and recessed areas.

Collagen works consistently and gradually to firm skin, but cannot be forced to instantaneously erase all of the skin's imperfections. However, as soon as collagen is stimulated, you will begin to see some improvement in your skin.

Initial Results after Your First Session

Because even a little collagen stimulation can trigger the skin to firm and become more even, you will likely see results after your first session. They will not be dramatic, but you may notice lines appearing to be less visible and recessed areas of skin raising slightly.

However, don't be surprised if you don't see results immediately. It may because you have fewer imperfections in your face and the changes wouldn't be as noticeable, or it may because the lines or recessed areas in your skin are too deep for the collagen production to immediately take effect. Collagen will continue to work over the next few weeks, and you should begin to notice some improvement after a time.

Results after Continuing Treatment

Depending on the details of your individual case--including how great an area you want treated and how deep the imperfections are--you will need between three and four total ReFirme sessions in your initial treatment. These sessions will be spaced two to four weeks apart. The reuse of the elos tool at this time will reinvigorate the collagen in your skin, leading to more collagen production. After each treatment, you should see slightly better results, but remember that the treatment is a long-term process, the aim of which is to encourage the collagen production in your skin to tighten and even out skin.

Long Term Results of the Treatment

After you've completed your initial treatment, you should continue to see remarkable improvement over the following months. This is because even without maintenance visits, the collagen in your skin should be stimulated enough to continue to firm skin. Your ideal results should be visible at about four to six months after you began the treatment; this can be an advantage because the overnight results provided by some other treatments can look too obvious. ReFirme provides natural-looking results because it stimulates the natural properties of your skin.

However, results are not permanent. You will have to come back for maintenance visits every one to two years in order to keep up the same level of collagen production. Once you begin the ReFirme treatment, it's important that you stick with it so that you can see optimal results. If you know that the results are subtle and gradual, you'll be able to prepare yourself for investing the time necessary to complete the treatment.
