Pregnancy and Aluma

Aluma is a laser cosmetic treatment that can tighten the skin and make it look younger and softer. The procedure is preferred by a lot of patients, especially women, given the great results and the minimal down time. However, if you are considering this treatment, you should also know that it is not recommended during pregnancy.

Aluma before Pregnancy

The Aluma treatment can be safely performed prior to a pregnancy. The lasers won't affect the reproductive system and your ability to become pregnant.

Aluma during Pregnancy

Being a laser treatment, Aluma is not recommended during pregnancy. Even if the treatment is applied on areas that are far from the uterus and the baby, the laser beams can still affect the fetus. The fetus can suffer from malformations, especially if the Aluma treatment is applied during the first trimester of the pregnancy.

In addition, the increased level of hormones may interfere with the treatment and the results may not be optimal. For this reason, it is important that you take a pregnancy test prior to getting the Aluma treatment.

Aluma after Pregnancy

Aluma can be performed after pregnancy, but there are a few factors that need to be considered:

  • The Aluma treatment shouldn't be applied immediately after giving birth (during the first 6 weeks).
  • The procedure is not recommended during the lactation period, as the milk can be affected by the treatment and consequently the baby may be affected.

Aluma is recommended after pregnancy, because during pregnancy the skin can expand and it may take a while for it to naturally tighten. Aluma can tighten the skin in just one treatment.
