Acoustic Wave Therapy for Adolescents

Cellulite is not only physically upsetting to adolescents, but it can also be emotionally upsetting. By using Acoustic Wave Therapy, adolescents can enjoy smoother skin without pain or discomfort.

What Is Acoustic Wave Therapy?

In Acoustic Wave Therapy, the skin is simply placed upon paddles designed to send acoustic, or sound, waves into the skin's deeper layers. In doing so, the fat cells will be loosened and they will be smoothed out to create a smoother overall skin disposition. Initial sessions can last from 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the treatment program. A patient will simply lie on a pad with paddles inside, feeling a slight vibration in the skin as the treatment continues.

While the skin will be slightly inflamed at first, possibly tender to the touch, this allows collagen to be produced in the skin, which creates more supple and smooth skin cells. The first session a patient has may be gentler as the fat cells are loosened, but subsequent sessions will be more intense to stimulate collagen production and to create more noticeable results. The Acoustic Wave Therapy will last over several treatments, usually 6 in total. Most patients will have 2 treatment sessions per week for three weeks.
