How to Prepare for a Velashape

Velashape is a non-invasive treatment that uses a gentle light energy and a low amount of heat of 5 to 10 mm to reduce cellulite and reshape the body. A hand-held applicator pulls up and gently stretches the skin. The sensation is often described as similar to a deep tissue massage. Preparations are recommended before having a Velashape treatment.

  • Drink a lot of water for a couple of days before the session to intensify the effects of the treatment.
  • Gently exfoliate the skin the day before while showering to remove dead skin.
  • Eat only small meals 2 to 3 hours before the appointment.
  • Make a note of any prescriptions or medications that are taken and be sure to mention this information to the practitioner.
  • Anti-inflammatory medications and anticoagulants such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen should be avoided, as well as certain vitamins and herbal supplements. Be sure to consult the medical office to get a list of which supplements and medications should be avoided.
  • Do not wear any perfume.
  • Wear clothes that can easily be removed.
  • Shave the area that is to be treated, as hair can prevent the applicator from gliding smoothly over the body. It is important to not wax for at least 4 days before a treatment session.
  • Make sure that the skin to be treated is clean and free of any lotion or moisturizer, and that it is dry.
  • Wear clothes that are baggy and comfortable, as there will be a stinging sensation after the treatment.
  • Advise the medical professional of any previous surgeries and medical procedures.
  • Maintain your health and stay fit.
