How TriActive is Performed

TriActive is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment used to get rid of excessive cellulite present in the skin. It cures the appearance of loose and saggy skin by combining low-energy laser emitting diodes with a suction massage. TriActive combines three distinct treatments, namely laser, massage and cooling to correct the body contours and achieve a younger looking skin. There is no recovery period associated with it and patients can get back to work soon after the treatment. The procedure usually lasts from 30 minutes to an hour. During the procedure, there is no need for any kind of anesthetics or numbing creams.

Preparation

Your plastic surgeon will ask you to lie down on the massage bed with the area to be treated facing upwards. Preferably wear a gown or a towel. Since TriActive is classified as a Class II device by the FDA, even an aesthetician or a spa professional can perform the treatment. There will be two different handheld units, each of which will be used separately for the face and body. You simply have to relax during the procedure, as anesthesia won't be administered.

Cooling

The localized cooling helps in shrinking the fat cells and preparing the skin of the affected area for the penetration of the lasers. This cooling allows easy penetration of lasers, without any damage to the top layer of the skin.

Laser Stimulation

Six diode lasers will be used to penetrate the connective tissue in order to stimulate the fibroblasts, resulting in enhanced collagen production. This new collagen will result in a smoother and younger skin. It also melts the existing cellulite while encouraging drainage of lymph vessels and resulting in a reduced appearance of dimples. There is an additional hand piece which helps in refreshing the facial tissue and uncovering a softer, more radiant skin for a youthful appearance.

Mechanical Massage

The comfortable mechanical massage or rhythmic aspiration expands your skin in several directions to increase microcirculation. This ultimately results in an increase in skin elasticity and improved lymphatic drainage. It also enhances the blood flow under the skin and makes the connective tissues soft enough to augment the dissipation of existing cellulite.

Variations in Techniques

Different styles of massage can be used with TriActive, which involves adding extra oils and soothing materials to it. Other variations include adding an extra element to the process, or spending more time on any of the three existing elements. For example, sometimes massage is done for a longer time than usual.

Recovery

You may experience mild discomfort or swelling after the TriActive treatment, but chances are rare. Apply ice packs to ease the pain, if any. No recovery period is associated with TriActive and most of the patients walk away freely after the treatment. Unlike other treatments where patients feel tired and exhausted, you will actually feel relaxed after the treatment. This is basically due to the inclusion of massage in the laser process.

The optimal results begin to show after 10 to 15 sessions. Continue for maintenance sessions to get the best results. The cost of a series of 10 to 15 treatments is around $1,500 to $2,000.
