How Velashape is Performed

Velashape is a non-invasive body contouring procedure. It is performed as an outpatient surgery in a doctor's office, medical spa or a cosmetic surgery hospital. The process is not performed under local or general anesthesia, and it does not involve injections or incisions. Reports of the patients most times show that the treatment sessions are relaxing and soothing, as they undergo the experience from the deep heat and massage.

VelaShape Procedure

Following a previous consultation, the patient will go to the physician's office for the treatment sessions. The individual will be placed on the treatment table, either on the back or stomach based on the body areas to be treated. In the course of the treatment session, the physician uses a hand-held device to treat the predetermined areas. While the physician moves the device over the skin, a blend of infrared light, vacuum suction, radio frequency energies and special rollers are used to achieve skin smoothing and tightening, reduction of cellulite appearance and heat application to fat deposits. At the same time, the procedure promotes metabolic activity for increase in fat cells' size reduction. The patient is advised to alert the body contouring provider of any slight pinching in the course of the treatment, so that the tension on the specialized rollers can be adjusted.

Treatment Duration

VelaShape treatment sessions last between 20 and 60 minutes; it all depends on the part of the body to be treated. The patient is able to drive home alone after a session and can immediately go back to normal activities and routines. The administration of this procedure is usually on areas of the body which include the buttocks, thighs and abdomen. The treatment of just one area can take up to 40 minutes or less. This will also be determined by the size of the area treated.

Ideal Candidates for VelaShape

The ideal candidates for VelaShape sessions must necessarily be healthy individuals, who desire to minimize girth in the hips, thighs, abdomen, buttocks or upper arms, and also lessen the appearance of cellulite. The potential candidates for the treatment are expected to have realistic expectations for the result of the treatment.

You are not eligible for this procedure if you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, if you are vulnerable to blood clots, if photosensitizing drugs are being administered to you, if you are an expecting mother or if you are diagnosed with anticoagulative conditions. Those with heart valves, dental plates, metal hip joints and pacemakers are not suitable for VelaShape treatments.
