What to Expect During VelaSmooth

The VelaSmooth treatment is a non-invasive procedure that employs radio frequency and optical energy to reduce cellulite. If you decide to have the procedure done, here's what you can expect.

Preparation

Because the surgery is non-invasive, there is no pre-procedure preparation such as blood work. The targeted area will be cleansed thoroughly before the treatment is applied.

The Procedure

During the VelaSmooth procedure, your doctor will use an infrared laser to heat the area and increase the skins elasticity. Then a radio frequency will be used to penetrate the fat cells of the targeted area. The heat from the frequency will also help improve circulation and increase the fat cell metabolism. The heat also works to shrink the fat chambers and eliminate cellulite. Lastly, a tool will be used to smooth the skin out. Using rollers, the VelaSmooth toll massages the skin and this helps to break up fat deposits and remove trapped fluid. The entire procedure will last from 45 - 60 minutes. The complete treatment consists of 2 session per week for 6-8 weeks.

Recovery and Side Effects

After the treatment, you may experience redness, bruising and insensitivity. You also may find that you are urinating more frequently. Drinking fluids will prevent you from becoming dehydrated. However, there is no recovery time. You can resume your daily activities immediately after the procedure.

Results and Follow-Up

After about three to four sessions, you may notice a reduction in cellulite. Your skin will also appear smoother, giving you a more youthful appearance. In order to maintain the results, you'll have to have one treatment every 8 to 12 weeks.
