Areas of the Body a Chemical Peel Treats

Chemical peels are most commonly thought of as a facial treatment, but they work on many areas of the body. Since body skin is usually thicker than facial skin, higher concentrations of acid may be used.

Chest

Years of sun exposure can cause age spots and lines on the chest. A chemical peel on this area can leave the skin with a fresher, smoother look.

Hands

Hands are constantly exposed to the elements, and can develop age spots and thin skin. Hands are often an overlooked area for cosmetic treatments, but a chemical peel can reduce the appearance of aging on the hands.

Back and Shoulders

The back and shoulders aren't usually given the same attention as the face, but the skin on these areas is sometimes prone to breakouts in those with oily skin. If acne is a problem, pigmented marks left from breakouts may be present as well. A chemical peel on the back and shoulders can unclog the pores and help reduce acne, as well as fade any marks.

A chemical peel is not limited to the face. If there are areas of fine lines and pigmentation on your body, you may wish to discuss with your doctor whether a chemical peel is right for that area of your body.
