Areas of the Body Microdermabrasion Treats

Microdermabrasion is a popular cosmetic procedure which utilizes aluminum oxide crystals or another abrasive material to remove the outer layer of the skin. This non-invasive procedure is used to even skin tone, reduce the appearance of scars, and stimulate collagen in the deeper layers of skin. It improves the look of mild to moderate acne, sun damaged skin and large pores.

Areas Treated by Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is used to treat the face, neck, chest, stomach, legs, back, buttocks or arms. Facial microdermabrasion is gentler than body. Microdermabrasion on the body can be used to reduce the appearance of stretchmarks, but won't completely remove them. It's not recommended for use on those with broken, irritated skin or autoimmune disorders.

Home kits, spas and dermatologists offer these treatments ranging in price from $10 to $200 per treatment. If you will be having a procedure done at a spa or doctor's office, do some research and make sure the person doing the procedure is licensed and experienced.
